Last November 2024, Oceanus Conservation had the incredible opportunity to attend our first international event at the 13th Asian Bird Fair. We are deeply grateful for the amazing turnout and the overwhelming support we received from everyone who visited our booth!
We sincerely thank the Wild Bird Club of the Philippines (WBCP) for inviting us to participate in this prestigious event! Especially to the Asian Bird Fair (ABF) for providing such a dynamic platform for conservationists and bird enthusiasts across Asia. Special thanks go to Mike Lu, President of WBCP and co-founder of ABF, for his unwavering support! And to Nikki Dyanne Realubit and Karen Ochavo, our trusted project partners and consultants, whose expertise and collaboration were invaluable in making our participation a success.
If you missed our booth, don’t worry!
At the fair, we had the opportunity to share key aspects of our ongoing work with the participants and visitors. We are excited to share some key highlights with you!
Community-led Mangrove and Migratory Bird Conservation Project
We were thrilled to present our Community-led Mangrove and Migratory Bird Conservation Project to a diverse audience. The positive response reaffirmed the importance of these conservation efforts in protecting vital ecosystems for both migratory birds and local communities.
Citizen science helps us identify bird calls via Chirp & Guess.
The collection of bird-call recordings we shared also highlighted our booth. These audio files, recorded from our conservation sites, allowed visitors a chance to help us identify bird species. In addition, this also allowed us to showcase the diverse bird species that call these habitats home. It was a special way to connect people to wildlife and for us to promote citizen science.
Trivia Game
Our trivia game was a massive hit! It engaged participants of all ages, from high school students to passionate birdwatchers, sparking friendly competition and deepening awareness about mangroves, migratory birds, and important conservation principles. The enthusiasm was infectious! Seeing so many people excited to test their knowledge of birds and conservation thrilled us!

On-the-Spot Donations
We deeply appreciate the on-the-spot donations received during the fair. Your generosity directly supports our conservation programs and allows us to continue our important work. Every donation makes a difference, and we deeply appreciate your support.
Origami Folding for the Youth
Our origami folding activity was a hit with the younger audience. It was a fun and creative way to teach kids about the birds they could help protect while also allowing them to make bird-themed origami creations!
The energy at the fair was nothing short of inspiring. We were thrilled to meet many passionate bird enthusiasts, conservationists, and new friends who share our commitment to protecting wildlife and preserving natural habitats! Your enthusiasm and energy are a driving force behind our work.
As we reflect on this incredible experience, we are filled with a renewed sense of purpose and excitement for the future. The connections we made at the fair will continue to inspire and guide us as we work toward our shared conservation goals.
Thank you once again to everyone who made our first international event such a success! We look forward to continuing this journey together, working for a better world for both nature and people.
